A TAG colour indicates.

Animals for BLUE families

Blue families are often first time animal owners. They have limited time or ability to train and exercise their animal, and want a low maintenance relationship. They may or may not have young children.

Animals for GREEN families

Green families are happy to live with animals that like a bit of action, but also like to relax and chill out with their animal. They are amenable to putting in some training and extra time in the early partnership to establish the household rules. They enjoy getting out each day taking their animals for walks.

Animals for ORANGE families

Orange families have a passion for animals - they could be animal trainers or are animal training enthusiasts with a library of animal books they read. They have enough time to enjoy daily walks, games and training with their animals. They put their animals to work via mental stimulation when left home alone for long periods.

My video:
A little about me:

Zena is a beautiful girl who loves to be around people. She is full of energy and loves playing ball.  Zena travels very well in the car and also enjoys going for walks. Zena does get bored if there is not enough going on around her. She is very intelligent and learns new things quickly. Zena is approximately 30 kg in weight.

What sort of home would suit me:

Zena is an outdoors dog. She has been indoors but her tail wags so much that it could be listed as a weapon. A home with another dog would make Zena very happy as she loves the company of other dogs.

Fencing type I need:

Normal fencing would be fine for Zena. She has shown no inclination to jump our fences

My time requirements:

Zena loves to run, play ball and go for walks. She will sit near you if you are outside gardening. She has short hair which is easy to brush. At least an hour a day would be needed for exercising and grooming

How I feel about kids:

Zena gets along well with children of all ages. She has been patted by some very young children as well as teenagers. She loves the attention and has shown no sign of aggression towarsd anyone.

Amount of exercise I need:

At least 45 minutes a day playing ball and going for walks. At the moment we play ball with her for 2 ten minute sessions a day. She returns the ball well - even throwing it to you. When she has had enough she takes the ball away and drops it into her water. Zena also goes for a walk every afternoon, on a lead, for about 4 km.

My grooming needs:

Zena has short hair which is easily brushed. She loves water so washing her isn't an issue.

My thoughts on other animals:

Zena barks when other dogs bark or if she hears strange sounds. She seems to get along with most other dogs however she is still a puppy at heart and sometimes her enthusiasm is occasionally too much for the dog she is playing with. We have a young kitten at home who wants to play with Zena. The two of them get on well with each other. Zena likes to lick the kitten.

My other requirements:

Zena needs to be kept busy as she can become bored.

Stories from the Foster Carer:

Zena loves to travel in the car. All you have to do is open the car door and she is straight in. She loves sitting on the back seat and will lie down once the car is underway. Recently the car broke down and we had to spend half an hour on the side of the road in the dark waiting for help. Zena spent all of the time sitting on the back seat listening to the radio.

Some likes:

Zena really loves playing with a ball, sometimes to the point of being obessesed. She loves being around people and other animals. She also loves marrow bones.

Commands learnt:

Zena has been through basic odedience training. She will sit, come, stand, drop, lie down and stay. She understands 'NO'. She is learning to heel and search.
