Foster Carers Scheme

Become a foster carer

INFORMATION FOR POTENTIAL RSPCA FOSTER CARERS

The purpose of foster care is to place into temporary care those animals that come into the possession of the RSPCA in areas where there are no Shelters.

The fostering of animals is an important and rewarding part of the work that Albury RSPCA undertakes and gives those animals, that might not normally be able to be rehomed, a wonderful start in life before moving on to suitable and lifelong homes.

Who Can Foster?

Anyone with a passion for animals. Considerations with suitable resources are also needed, this includes the animals time requirements. If interested please email for an information pack at admin@alburyrspca.org.au

Rewards

Our Foster Carers are well looked after in the requirements of animal welfare. We offer training in a variety of areas and recognise the efforts made by our Foster Volunteers. If you would like to improve your skills this is a great and fun way to improve. More information can be discussed at one of our meetings.

Extra Rewards

Not to mention the emotional benefits that fostering will provide when your fostered animals have found loving new homes and the continuing friendship this will bring. Imagine your own RSPCA Photo Album of re-homed pets.

Companionship

If you currently can not own a animal for some reason but would love to have the company that an animal provides, than this is for you!

Already an animal owner?

Do you have an animal already? Great, than you may be able to provide welfare to an animal in need whilst providing a temporary great playmate for your own animal.

All bases are covered with RSPCA

We provide you with all the necessary tools to ensure your success as an RSPCA Foster Carer and we welcome you to attend and voice your opinion at our meetings. This allows the branch to grow and develop greater achievements for the local area.

Requirements

Any person wishing to become a foster care will need to read and be willing to comply with the procedures outlined in the Branch Foster Care Manual. It is important that you fully understand the commitment that is required to become a foster carer.

To become a foster carer for the Albury RSPCA you must complete a Branch Foster Carer Application Form and you will be given information relating to foster caring that will help you make an informed decision about whether foster caring is for you. If you decide to proceed the Branch Foster Care Coordinator will organise a mutually agreeable time to attend your property to complete the interview process and to conduct a premises inspection.
