Swiss animal laws

michelle.u's picture

I was reading an article today about new animal cruelty laws in Switzerland and I thought it was really interesting.

Apparently it is illegal to house goldfish and birds by themselves, as well as other social animals.

Dog owners must take a two part course on caring and training their dog.

And fisherman must take a course on how to humanely kill a fish.

How they would "police" all this I have no idea...

I wonder if those laws and

I wonder if those laws and 'tests' do make a difference...

A friend of mine in NZ told me that to adopt a dog from the pound where he lives, people have to have a property inspection done first, then pass a basic Dog Owner Education test.

I've never adopted a dog from a pound; do they do all that here too?
