Animals for BLUE families

Blue families are often first time animal owners. They have limited time or ability to train and exercise their animal, and want a low maintenance relationship. They may or may not have young children.

Animals for GREEN families

Green families are happy to live with animals that like a bit of action, but also like to relax and chill out with their animal. They are amenable to putting in some training and extra time in the early partnership to establish the household rules. They enjoy getting out each day taking their animals for walks.

Animals for ORANGE families

Orange families have a passion for animals - they could be animal trainers or are animal training enthusiasts with a library of animal books they read. They have enough time to enjoy daily walks, games and training with their animals. They put their animals to work via mental stimulation when left home alone for long periods.

My video:
A little about me:

Hi.  My name is Pixie, and my foster mum says that I am the Mysterious Angel. I am a very timid little girl because I have had very little human contact in my past life, but because I have been getting lots and lots of love, I'm learning to trust my human family and show them I love and trust them too.

I've had to learn to go for walks on my lead, and now starting to enjoy it.  Sometimes however, I really don't feel like going out, and I will hide under the bed, so if for some reason I can't go for a walk, I'm not really fussed.

Unfortunately, I don't travel well in the car - I get car sick!  However, I'm ok on short trips just travelling to the park and back.

I am house trained, but bare in mind, I have a BIG doggy door and can come and go as I please.  But - watch me when it's raining because I don't like to get wet, so I have to be physically taken out.

What sort of home would suit me:

My ideal home would be if I had an energetic brother or sister I could race around the back yard with.  I love to zoom around with a friend and play with toys, but PLEASE don't throw balls or toys to me, as I become very stressed.  Maybe in time I'll learn to play like that too.

So if there is a family who is looking for company for their pooch - I'm it!!!!

Fencing type I need:

I have made absolutely no attempts to escape from my foster home,  and I've never tried to jump.  But still, to be on the safe side, I think no gaps under or beside gates and fences would be wise - just in case.

My time requirements:

At the moment, time just needs to be put in to make me feel  safe and secure.  I never demand attention, but I like to be near you. You will however need to spend time just teaching me very slowly that life is good!

How I feel about kids:

I am fine with kids in small doses, but sort of become anxious if they play and run around and are a bit noisy.  I would never growl or attempt to bite them - I just go under the bed and stay there till it's all quiet.  Then I will come out and enjoy pats and cuddles.

Amount of exercise I need:

I'm just learning to walk on the lead, so at the moment, just one nice walk a day is really all I need.

My grooming needs:

My fur is quite long  and my foster mum just combs me with a wide toothed comb every day, and I get a bath every couple of weeks.  My fringe and beard could do with a clip now and again.  I don't get smelly, and I don't malt.

My thoughts on other animals:

I absolutely love canine company, especially if they'll run and play with me.  My foster brother has attitude and dosn't like playing with girls, but my foster parents are constantly babysitting other dogs, and I just love it when we have fur people guests and I can play.

I love cats too.  We have a family cat and i love him dearly, and when we go visiting to Aunty's house, I don't bother her cats.

My other requirements:

Only one requirement - LOVE!

Stories from the Foster Carer:

Pixie is as soft and gentle as a butterfly - she has pure honey running in her veins. She is still quite timid, but she will come to you when she's ready - which really is most of the time. She is absolutely no trouble at all - eats well, sleeps well and is very well behaved.  She obviously has not had good human contact in her past, so she seems to find it difficult to accept that she's really loved.  She's come ahead in leaps and bownds since being with us, and I'm sure, with the right family who will continue giving her heaps of love, it will take no time before she becomes a happy well-adjusted confident little girl.

Some likes:

Love to have my tummy tickled and big 'mummy cuddles', and I LOVE Coles Scotch Finger biscuits!

Commands learnt:

Havn't even tried to teach her any.  The little Angel has more than enough things to learn.
