Animals for BLUE families

Blue families are often first time animal owners. They have limited time or ability to train and exercise their animal, and want a low maintenance relationship. They may or may not have young children.

Animals for GREEN families

Green families are happy to live with animals that like a bit of action, but also like to relax and chill out with their animal. They are amenable to putting in some training and extra time in the early partnership to establish the household rules. They enjoy getting out each day taking their animals for walks.

Animals for ORANGE families

Orange families have a passion for animals - they could be animal trainers or are animal training enthusiasts with a library of animal books they read. They have enough time to enjoy daily walks, games and training with their animals. They put their animals to work via mental stimulation when left home alone for long periods.

My video:
A little about me:

I'm a small white Maltese x with lots of personality. I'm a spritely older dog, a busy bod - inquisitive and lively. I'm a 'people' dog so I like to be near people most of the time.

I enjoy playing with my special toys - a small tennis ball and a doll, and can entertain myself with these for hours.

I am a connoisseur of fine food..... no actually I relish any sort of food, and am very keen on bones, pig ears, dental bones, you name it.

I'm very affectionate and well mannered. All in all I'm a sweetie with lots of personality, looking for a good home.

What sort of home would suit me:

I think a home with an older person is where I'd like to be. I'd like to have lots of patting time, and sitting on the couch time. In winter I especially like to be warm.

Fencing type I need:

I'm not particularly good at jumping, but I can manage the couch alright. The biggest concern for me as far as fencing goes, would be to ensure the gap underneath is not too big, in case I try to wriggle under. I sometimes slip out the front door too, but I don't go very far. Running away is not for me.

My time requirements:

I do like lots of cuddles and pats, and that can take as much time as you like. Apart from that I'm pretty easy going.

How I feel about kids:

I'm a bit nervous with strangers, including kids, but that doesn't last long. I tremble when I'm nervous but that's all. I'd prefer not to be around very young children but I enjoy being patted.

Amount of exercise I need:

I like walking but it's not essential, as I can get plenty of exercise playing with my doll or chasing a tennis ball (my favourite sport), doing boundary patrols, chasing birds etc., so my exercise demand is low. However regular exercise helps to keep my weight under control, as I do suffer a bit from middle-age spread.

My grooming needs:

My hair is straight and white. I need to be brushed and bathed regularly to keep me looking beautiful and avoid tangles. I like being brushed, and because I'm so small, I'm easy to bath in the laundry tub.

My thoughts on other animals:

I like to be the centre of attention, but I have learnt to live with other dogs in my foster home, and they have become my good buddies. I'm very playful, so as long as I can be the dominant dog, I love to play dog games. I would be especially valuable as a mentor and companion for a younger dog. I played with Karsha, another foster dog, the other day. She is much bigger than me, but I am older, so we had a great time together.

My other requirements:

Nothing in particular.

Stories from the Foster Carer:

Cyndi was very nervous and timid towards people on her arrival, but attached herself to the first bone she saw and munched on it despite having a sore mouth at the time. She settled in very quickly, and after demonstrating her excellent house training skills, moved inside and took up her place alongside our dog. She has a bubbly personality, which makes her very likeable, and she is very interetested in everything that is going on. She has made herself quite at home with us, and we enjoy having her around. Cyndi is a little dog with a big heart.

Some likes:

Cuddles, sleeping on the bed, sleeping on the couch, good food, playing with favourite doll, playing with tennis ball. Car rides are OK too.

Commands learnt:

They say you can't teach an old dog new tricks BUT....

I have learnt my name Cyndi.

I have learnt to sit before my meals.

I understand what NO means.
